BIWIN Launched New C1008 SSD for In-vehicle Digital Video Recorders

Recently, BIWIN launched the new C1008 series for mobile digital video recording, which is an upgraded version of the BIWIN C1004 series released in 2019. Featuring the SATA 6Gb/s interface, C1008 2.5" SSD is crafted with 3D TLC flash, providing 500 GB, 960 GB, 1.92 TB, and 3.84 TB capacities. It offers stable writing, more than 3000 P/E cycles, "firmware algorithm + tantalum capacitor" dual power failure protection, and extended working temperature ranging from -20℃ to 70℃.

1. A Rock-solid Performer in Hard Drive Tests

MDVR (Mobile Digital Video Recorder) field puts forward higher requirements for storage devices in multi-channel, long-term, and high-definition continuous writing. How to ensure the data integrity and reliability remains a big challenge for storage product manufacturers. BIWIN optimizes the Garbage Collection mechanism and adopts self-developed dynamic load balancing to make sure GC and HOST are consistent with each other, guaranteeing stable continuous data writing. To simulate the application scenario of multi-channel video files written after the capacity is maxed out, BIWIN C1008 (3.84 TB) delivers random write speed at 6000 IOPS without dropping to 0 IOPS during the FIO test, avoiding frame loss in data writing.

2. "Firmware Algorithm + Tantalum Capacitor" Dual Power Failure Protection

BIWIN C1008 adopts "firmware algorithm + tantalum capacitor" dual power failure protection mechanism to avoid data loss and firmware loss during power failure. PLP is powered by the backup tantalum capacitor, ensuring the reliability and integrity of data transmission, firmware program safety, and data security. The firmware design stores user data and firmware management data in limited backup time. We carried out in-depth research and test on NAND flash to ensure timely data brushing even under extreme scenarios such as heavy IO operation and flash end-over-end erasure. And during the next power-up, it avoids long internal scanning operation, optimizes the power-up time, and gives quick response to user commands. Rigorously tested for power compatibility, dynamic response of power conversion, and voltage stability, this C1008 is available over a wider range of supply voltage changes that higher than a traditional 5 V (±10%).

 

3. More than 3000 P/E cycles

Built with 3D TLC NAND Flash, this BIWIN C1008 achieves more than 3000 P/E cycles. Powered by the LDPC ECC (Low-Density Parity-Check Error Correction Code) technology and external DDR4 DRAM, BIWIN C1008 effectively reduces write amplification and offers a higher TBW to ensure the stable operation of digital video recorder.

 

4. Operate Stably from -20℃ to 70℃

Built with hand-sorted ICs and high-performance controller, BIWIN C1008 has undergone strict tests to work faultlessly in an extended working temperature from -20℃ to 70℃.

5. SATA II Interface, Ideal for DVR
