BIWIN Enterprise-Grade SSDs Certified by OpenCloudOS, OpenAnolis and openEuler

Date:2025/04/23 Read:28

Recently, BIWIN’s enterprise-grade SP406/416 and SP506/516 PCIe SSDs have been certified compatible with three major open-source operating systems: OpenCloudOS, OpenAnolis (Anolis OS), and openEuler. Test results demonstrate excellence in all aspects of functionality, performance, reliability, and compatibility.

The BIWIN SP4/SP5 enterprise SSDs have completed all-round compatibility tests with OpenCloudOS, specifically including several rounds of strict tests of OS installation, system information verification, partition and file system, hot swapping, drive indicator LED, read/write performance, system reboot, and prolonged stress testing. The tests showed that BIWIN’s enterprise SSDs are qualified with excellent adaptability and stability within the OpenCloudOS environment.

In terms of product functionalities and critical performance metrics, BIWIN enterprise SSDs have been validated for outstanding performance, stability and reliability, capable of supporting continuous and long-term stable operations for enterprise-grade applications. Considering reliability and compatibility, even under intensive workloads involving mixed read/write operations and rapid random switching, these SSDs maintained stable and error-free operation. Moreover, BIWIN enterprise SSDs have received certifications from multiple open-source OS communities, which further confirms them as flexible and adaptable choices for customers.

The SP4 series adopts a U.2 form factor and is well-suited for enterprise data centers, cloud computing, and high-end servers. Featuring a robust enterprise-grade controller and high-speed 3D TLC NAND, the series offers capacities from 1.6TB to 7.68TB, high throughput/IOPS, low latency, and superior QoS. Its efficient firmware architecture enhances both performance and endurance, with a mean time between failures (MTBF) of up to 2.5 million hours. Additionally, its low power consumption helps reduce operational costs, meeting stringent enterprise energy-efficiency requirements.

The SP5 series delivers up to twice the bandwidth of Gen4 products, striking an optimal balance between performance and power efficiency. Offering sequential read/write speeds of up to 13,100 MB/s and 10,000 MB/s, capacities ranging from 1.6TB to 15.36TB and industry-leading KIOPS/Watt performance as well, the products are perfect for enterprise-grade demands of high-density storage, high compatibility, and low TCO. With advanced firmware and software optimization, they are equipped with more technical advantages such as robust data protection, reliability, and consistency. The SP5 series is also available in multiple form factors, including E1.S and E3.S, making it compatible with new-generation EDSFF servers, traditional servers, and workstations.

Beyond the three open-source certifications, the SP4 and SP5 series have also passed compatibility testing with mainstream CPU platforms including Phytium, Hygon, and Loongson, and have achieved cross-certification with 17 server manufacturers such as Lenovo, Inspur, H3C, and Tongfang. These certifications underscore the series' broad adaptability across enterprise hardware environments, delivering flexible and open storage solutions for customers worldwide. Moving forward, BIWIN is committed to delivering more high-performance, highly reliable enterprise storage solutions. By fostering deeper ecosystem collaboration, BIWIN aims to build a future-ready storage landscape and contribute to the digital economy with intelligent storage-driven innovation.

About OpenCloudOS

OpenCloudOS integrates the technological strengths of Tencent and its partners in software and open-source ecosystems. It offers comprehensive support for x86_64, ARM64, and RISC-V architectures, and is compatible with a wide range of domestic processors including Phytium, Hygon, Zhaoxin, and Kunpeng. The system also provides full-stack support for national cryptographic standards and confidential computing capabilities. To date, it has been adapted to over 300 enterprise products. With 99.999% high availability as a core strength, OpenCloudOS has been rigorously validated in real-world business scenarios such as social networking, financial payments, AI, security, and big data. Tested across tens of millions of nodes over extended periods, it has demonstrated a failure rate more than 70% lower than CentOS 7 and has improved performance by over 50% in typical workloads.

About OpenAnolis

Founded in September 2020, the OpenAnolis community is led by a council including Arm, Alibaba Cloud, UnionTech, Loongson, Phytium, NFS-CHINA, and Intel, among 21 key domestic and international enterprises. With over 250 ecosystem partners, it is a leading open-source OS community in China with significant industry and technological influence. The Anolis OS has over one million downloads and more than 1.5 million deployments. Over 50 enterprise products have been adapted to the OS, which now serves over 300,000 users across government, finance, transportation, and telecommunications sectors.

About openEuler Certification

The openEuler certification is a professional certification program by Huawei for its open-source Linux-based OS, openEuler. Built collaboratively by global contributors, openEuler aims to provide a high-performance, stable, and secure operating system for databases, big data, cloud computing, AI, and other scenarios.
