At the 2025 Open Data Center Conference (ODCC 2025), three enterprise-grade storage industry standards, led and developed by BIWIN, earned the ODCC 2025 Outstanding Achievement Award and Excellent Achievement Award, a testament to BIWIN’s strength in technological standardization, industry regulation, and ecosystem development.

 

01 Multiple Technical Standards Honored, Empowering the Standardized Growth of the Enterprise Market

 

All three awarded achievements were initiated and led by BIWIN, focusing on critical challenges faced by enterprise SSDs in real-world applications. Each aims to address common industry bottlenecks and promote collaborative innovation across the storage value chain.

 

 

The increasing applications of AI in the edge side has proliferated the demands of edge servers in smart manufacturing, smart cities, and connected vehicle applications. Edge computing server stands out with its local processing and real-time response capabilities. In this architecture, SSD lies in the central place to data storage and interaction, which underlies the responsiveness, reliability and security of edge computing nodes. The Requirements Analysis and Specification for Storage Components in Edge Servers, led and formulated by BIWIN, was honored with ODCC 2025 Outstanding Achievement Award. This standard gives a detailed account of the differentiated demands on SSD across diversified scenarios, defines critical technical indicators and testing criteria, and outlines technological development roadmap, providing an authoritative reference for storage selection, design, and validation in enterprise edge devices and contributing to collaboration and standardization throughout the edge computing ecosystem.

 

 

Also honored with the Excellent Achievement Award, the Study on Write Amplification of SSDs under Different File Systems v0.3 presents an in-depth analysis—based on extensive empirical data—of how mainstream file systems (such as ext4, XFS, and Btrfs) affect SSD write amplification. The research offers valuable insights for optimizing storage architectures, extending SSD lifespan, and enhancing overall system performance.

 

 

Another awarded project, the New SSD SMART Attribute Design, addresses intelligent operation and maintenance requirements. Leveraging years of product development experience and customer insight, BIWIN proposed a more comprehensive and accurate SMART design approach that significantly improves fault prediction and manageability. Centered on the LDPC RBER and incorporating factors such as program/erase time and wear-leveling metrics, the model enables 30–90 days of predictive warning capability. In large-scale testing across 500,000 SSDs deployed in Alibaba Cloud, it achieved an F1 score of 0.91 for 7-day early failure prediction, greatly enhancing system reliability and cluster availability.
